If you kill him in Driftwood you can't kill him in the Blackpits and if you kill him in the Blackpits, you can't kill him in Arx. You get more dialogue and ideas about what he's doing if you leave him alone. If you want a more gamey reason, he's worth more xp later.

LOL google brought this up but worth the necro for a "thanks!" I always played this normal and waited until later, but I was considering killing him early this time around. But I won't because I'm going to want his increased exp later.

That basement the magisters got slaughtered in. At the very bottom there is a library they're setting on fire. If he isn't there, its just some white magisters and gheists. If you didn't kill him prior, he'll be down there too.
