Elemental arrows
Hello, I wonder how special arrows work?

Do they do elemental and physical damage (basic damage + arrow damage), or just do they focus on given element? I mean using fire arrow which deals for example 100 dmg additional basic damage is being added as fire damage?

Hovering over the arrow states exactlyessentially what they do.

In general they exclusively deal 70% of the damage a basic attack would do as their respective element (If your Basic Attack deals 100 Physical Damage a Fire Arrow will do 70 Fire Damage).

However their damage is also modified based on combat ability passive effects. if your ranger has invested points into Hydrosophist, but not Pyrokinetic, Water Arrows will deal more Water Damage than Fire Arrows would deal Fire Damage.(damage dealt is displayed as if the struck statement was true, actual damage dealt doesn't appear to account for ability investment)

Isn't that bugged? Last time I tried it the arrows didn't scale with elemental skill trees. It showed an increase in the tool tip but the damage done wasn't the same.

What Jeb said, but also elemental arrows can crit even if you don't have savage sortilege. Torturer works with fire and poison arrows. Elemental arrowhead and venom coat add damage to the element of the arrow instead of doing split elemental damage iirc. Elemental Ranger increases damage even with special arrows.

After a quick test it seems you are correct. Fired a water arrow that was supposed to deal 139-150 damage on a ranger with Hydro 5 and it was dealing damage in the range of other arrows (111-120 in my case) on a target with 0% water resistance. I wonder which way the bug is, displayed damage or actual damage.

Yeah it seems super weird, wish they fixed that, was there never supposed to be an increase or it was but they messed up? Kinda sad they stopped updating the game. Would be nice making a fire bowmage. Wish someone made an unofficial patch that fixes these kind of things.

So, as per my understanding:

1. Elemental arrow does only elemental damage (70% of basic damage of a bow) and not physical (basic damage of a bow) and elemental.

2. Elemental magic doesn;t influence damage of elemental arrow (speaking of elemental arrow I mean arrow which can be crafted or bought).

In result one could say, that fire arrow is in fact similar to fire wand, because it does fire damage at distance.

1. Yes
2.It doesnt add damage, only things that increase your physical damage, elemental arrowheads, venom coat, dunno if fire brand adds.

And yeah, a more powerful wand attack with added effects like wet for water arrow, shock, burn, poison. Each arrow has a better version like static cloud, poison cloud, freeze arrows, necrofire arrows etc. Fire arrow is bugged, its supposed to deal single target elemental damage like shock arrow but it works exactly like an explosive arrow.

If you want to make an Ele Archer here are the steps
1. Rob some NPC's for some gold since you need to buy your ele arrows. You can survive on Poison arrows using Ooze barrel recipe and ignite the poison with your fire mage for some nice DPS.
2. Buy Honey Jars to craft Charm Arrows if you are cheap
3. Pump ALL of your stats into Finess
4. Pump Warfare as your priority, Pump Ranged as your secondary, Rest of points go to Huntsman

Aim for +2 Scoundrel, +2 Huntsman, +2 Poly for mobility and cloaks.

If you want to run Glass Cannon always pre cast Clear Minded so you don't get charmed. If your archer gets charmed, they will RIP your team.

Talents go in order:
1. Executioner

2. Arrow Recovery (Nice early game but not needed late game due to $$$$$$) I like going Glass Cannon 2nd if I feel I have a healthy supply of arrows.

3. Far Out Man//Torturer//Glass Cannon .... decisions

4. Hot Head

If you are building a water/Ice based/Aero team instead of Fire/Earth/Aero I suggest making a Wander since they can CC hard.
