Fane, well because he's undead. Everything that undead is cool, either they have achieved what mortals cannot, or they are just simply a creature beyond human understanding. This is just my opinion.
For Lohse, i never actually try to play with her, but many said that she has one of the best dialogue choices, namely sarcasm. She also has quite humorous nature, again, mostly sarcasm humour. Her story is also considered to be one of the best, if not the best by many people.

Personally I love the Red Prince. Hes way more complicated than he lets on and you get to bang a lizard... so thats pretty cool,
But its an amazing game, so hell, play all of them!
I second the person who said playing as or taking The Red Prince, he has something to do in every act, I find him and his quests interesting and enjoyable, if nothing else they provide more insight into lizard culture, which is otherwise, relatively absent.
