Edit: just FYI for the inevitable "hissing" retort. I live in the desert. Lizards rarely, and I mean rarely hiss. Don't believe Hollywood, folks.
Basically this. His voice seems fitting to me, considering the history of lizards in this world.
Well yes. Skyrim, Warhammer... to name 2 specifics.
Even noble lizards get the accent of reptilian. It adds character to then so they arent just reskinned humans.
Yeah. It is still awkward to see a reptile speak perfectly. Noble or not, it's odd to have them speak the same as normal humans without any intricacy other than "noble"
He is great.
In any case, despite being called lizards... they're not lizardmen, as the plot may eventually reveal.
But in all seriousness I think they just lack the variety of voice actors to pull off a big enough diversity and that fine not like they broke their lore or are doing stuff like some movies that are clearly suppose to be a certain group, but are not.
Yeah. They are just humans with a texture pack lol. But yes I agree
Yeah, not what I said. But sure "according to this guy" everything has to he a stereo type. Or, in an attempt to be different from other fantasies they forgot to make the lizard unique in some way other than appearance.
I never said they broke their lore. It's fine what they are. Not lizard men could have easily still been nobles and what not, and at least be something more than a texture pack for human.
They lack anything else making them unique to play when they are just posh people with a skin condition.
You can ask questions like why elves eat corpes or dwarves don't dwelll underground and so forth, but elves and dwarves don't have to follow the same old Tolkien tropes any more than a reptilian race to show similar traits of real life reptiles.
They are consistent with it. It was just jarring at first the the reptile race speaks and behaves like a normal human. Yes, it is good to get away from tropes, but having something that removes uniqueness isnt helpful to the RP aspect.
Dragons are dragons in Skyrim and GoT, even though people using D&D as a history text say they are wyvern. I agree with that mindset applied to the lizard men too, it just doesnt benefit the RP to make them function like a human or elf.
Especially in a game where behaving like a barbarian is an option.
