Where is Purge and Source Vampirism?

I'm on the second island and up against more shriekers at Reaper's Coast. I have no purging wand anymore but I also don't have the Purge and Source Vampirism skill I used to have? It's not in my skillbook. I used the skill before - but now it's not there? Is this a known glitch or am I missing something?

It should be automatically given to you, no memory required and listed at the bottom of the memorized list in the skillbook. Just drag onto skillbar to use. Otherwise, a screenshot of your skillbook might help.

I HAD them - but they're gone. How do you post a screenshot?

USe F12 to snap it through steam, open the screenshot thing in the steam overlay in-game and upload it to cloud. Then click on screenshot library below the screenshots you upload, find the screenshot (should be the first listed if you just uploaded it), click on it and copy the link above the screenshot. That will make it pop up in the thread. There are other ways from the library, but that's how I usually do it.

I'm not sure how to get the URL of the specific image - but it's the latest one in my screenshots folder. From that you can see the only Source power I still have is BLESS. I used to have PURGE, SOURCE VAMPIRISM and SPIRIT VISION - but they're now gone? How do I progress through the game without these? I remember from the first time I played the original (classic) Divinity 2 Original Sin that SPIRIT VISION was a pretty critical element... now it's just gone?

Um... Did you lose literally every other skill and skillpoints as well? You look like you're level 3 but also in act two...

Did something happen out of the ordinary?

At this point it might seem like you just need to find an older save and reload it.

As for the specific shot, just click on the shot on that page and just copy the URL above the image when it pops up in its own window.

LEVEL 3? Wow... no I'm way past that. I seem to remember being LEVEL 13 last time I looked? I'm deep into act 2 - almost finished in fact. I was at Reaper's Coast and there was a Shrieker I wanted to purge and noticed I didn't have the purge skill anymore. Crap. All my other skills are there. It's just the SOURCE based skills that are missing (except BLESS).

Wow. I went back and looked at everyone of my save games... about 25 in total... (autosaves and quicksaves) and all my SOURCE powers (PURGE, VAMPRISIM, SPRIT VISION) are now retroactively gone in those as well - even though I know I used them at those past points in the game. Only BLESS remains. Must be a corruption in my game? This really sucks because if I start all over again - how do I know it won't just happen again? Crap. Just for the record - I have no mods installed.

Well I said level 3 because you have literally like 4 skills. Like only 4. And only 3 points in warfare with no other skills. So... Yeah. Like a level 3. However you also have all 3 source points meaning you have to be at least level 9-10. Can't get all of those otherwise, though yes indeed can have 3 source points that early, pretty much immediately after hitting act two.

Still, if your old saves also lost the skills... Especially if you can remember having them in the past... Only thing I can think of is to try a game cache verification (properties > local files > verify).

Integrity of files verified - all checks out. I sent a report to Larian but I don't know if that's going to actually solve my specific problem. I'd like to keep playing - I'm totally into it and craving it - but if the game is unwinnable without Source Powers, I don't think I should just waste my time.

I don't think it would be uncompletable. There aren't really any necessary parts after getting your source points (as long as you did the rituals again already) where its required. Source can be obtained through other means to achieve your goal, like using source orbs. Might be slightly harder, but it should be doable.

So I took your advice and moved onto the Nameless Island section of the game. Guess what? All my Source Powers were restored. They're all back again - PURGE, SOURCE VAMPIRISM and SPIRIT VISION. Somehow they must have all reset when I began the new chapter. I don't get it - but I'll take it.

Also if you wear gear with a skill power you already have, it is not visible in the skill list.

Welp, there you go. Sometimes the best way to fix a problem is to just ignore it and let it fix itself.
