New player here. Is undead bad?
I really want to go ghost lizard but I'm worried about the negative effects. Will it be too complex for a noob like me?

if you don't want to have to kill everyone you come across, make sure you are wearing equipment in all your slots (glove, hands, pants, chest and head). That should be easy to do because you will want to do that anyway for gear benefits.

Having other party members heal you can be difficult as only poison (geomancy) heals you.
Making poison bottles is far easier to do than healing potions (poison barrel + empty bottle)
Most healing spells will hurt you, chipping away at physical armor first and then HP.

Everyone you fight will instantly know you are undead and try to cast restoration on you.

It is a change, but after killing yourself a few times because you forget you are undead, it will be a breeze. as always, SAVE!

Thank you! My character is actually an inquisitor, and my main focus is lifesteal. I hope that allows me to heal myself along with poison bottles.

Oh, and one more question. Do my armor pieces have to fully cover my parts or does the effect apply no matter the appearance? (For example, would a helmet that shows my face still hide me?)

Potentially, but in a way it's just an altered norm. You heal using Geomancy(Poison) as opposed to Hydrosophist for the living, you can also use Necromancy for heals. Just remember to not take your armour off in view of NPCs.

You'll also probably want to find a way to deal with fire since a burning undead won't be able to heal through external poison (you can still drink it) so packing water balloons and/or someone with access to the (Blood) Rain skill (Fortify skill also works to put a single character out).

that is where immersion breaks a little bit. just as long as a head piece is worn you are fine.
You will find hats that don't hide your face at all and people will be fine with it.

I think it depends a lot of difficulty. On normal you'll manage fine its really not that hard. I'm doing tactician a second time (last time was when the game came out) and some fights are quite hard so my main char hydro/aero does heal a lot. Healing ritual and healing tears would be impossible to use with an undead close. As they heal several targets. And youd prob need someone to use poison. Which is useless for crowd control. Which might make it harder to get good synergy if you use 2 melee 2 magic.

My second magic char is battlemage using 5 aero/ 1 hydro/ 3 warf/ 2 necro/ 10 sumon. Mostly my aero/hydro can keep enemies frozen or stuned but the battlemage can support here. And can also support my warior with knockdowns. And then sebille my hunter can use arrows to the same effect and can use first aid to fix knockdowns. I dont know if that would also damage undead though.

oh to add, u can get Zaikk's Talon very early in Act 1 at Fort joy in Prison. Combine this with Healing Potions you'll get Poison Potions . so you dont need to bring along a barrel poison which is heavy to carry around with

Where do I get the talon?

I wouldn't worry about being undead, played multiple tactician playthroughs with undead in my party and it doesn't feel like it gets too difficult aside from mobs always being able to tell that you're undead and use healing spells on you. Also depending on your party comp or your own build you can cover your weaknesses with self healing(necromancy or poison pots/poisoned food), threat drop skills(play dead, cameleon cloak, chantarelle, etc etc), keeping next in line enemies cc'd.

It may feel daunting to know you can't use normal restoration means to keep you healthy but that's the beauty of the game. You have multiple ways to work around your comp and builds, just gotta think outside the box a little.
