Understanding Damage
Hi, so I'm level 13 with a 2her and 31 strength. The 2her does 29-35 physical damage and 5-6 water. I'm just wondering how damage is calculated because I've also got 4 Two handed and 4 warfare. However, I'm in a fight right now and a regular ol' silent watcher (also lvl 13) with only 28 strength and only 5 warfare (no two handed) easily doubles my damage. What's going on here?

Big variable here is what level your weapon is. Always keep your weapon at your level. If you level up, get a new one.

Attributes like STR are additive. So whatever STR you have gets added into one big % and then is applied to your base weapon damage. Two-handed also gets put in that category. Warfare is different though. The 5% boost from Warfare is applied AFTER the other calculations. This means that the 5% from Warfare is worth more to you than the 5% from things like Two Handed. Most builds won't have any points in the weapon skills like Two Handed because of this. Stack Warfare to max first.

Ok got the warfare part. But for the weapon level thing, does that mean that if you have weapon A that is level 20 and weapon B that is level 21 with both the same damage numbers, that weapon B still does more damage?

Yes assuming the weapon in same type/using same everything (attribute same # and not using like dagger+backstabbing or abilities)

Oh ok that's something I didn't know. I was definitely handicapping myself then because I would keep low level weapons because the damage numbers were higher.

I mean, a lower level item shouldn't have a higher damage. Level scaling in this game is significant, so even one level makes a big difference. Never keep a weapon because the + stats are better versus a higher level one. The base damage is much more important.

I'd honestly want an example of what you're talkin about.

It's usually because of a difference in rarity...

Damage is calculated as follows

Damage = (Base Damage) x (1 + Elemental Bonus%) x (1 + Attribute Bonus% + Weapon Skill Bonus% + Misc Bonuses% [if attack]) x (1 + High Ground Bonus% + Crit Bonus%) x ( 1 + Misc Bonus% [if spell])
