Has Rope any significant use in this game?

In Div Div it led to a very poignant area, anything like that here?

I don't recall it having any story or quest-related usage. I think you can craft with it, but not for anything particularly important.

You can use two ropes to make one fuse if I'm not mistaken. Which is weird because a fuse weighs half of one rope.

Ropes can also be combined with a sheet of paper and alien air essence to make an apportation scroll. It's an aerotheurge skill that lets you transport objects directly into your inventory. If you already have teleport and some leap abilities you will probably have a very difficult time finding any use for it.
