A question about selling wares
If I designate a backpack to hold all my wares, when I go to a trader can I then sell my wares directly from the backpack or do they have to be in the inventory?

They have to be in your inventory, otherwise you sell the entire backpack.

you'll get used to it; use the tabs to go from weapons to consumables. I rarely look at my whole inventory.

Used to be that you could abuse this in an order-of-operations method where you'd remove the vendor's gold and give them one inside a barrel or something. When you bought from them, you'd give them your side of the transaction then they'd give you theirs. So if they had just one gold in a barrel, when you complete the transaction your gold you give them to buy the stuff would go into that barrel to stack with the gold they have. As long as you purchased the barrel in that transaction, you'd only pay for the barrel with the single gold in it. So you'd get the barrel after the gold went in, giving you all your gold back. Used to be that you could walk up to vendors like this and take literally everything they had, free of charge. Their gold when their inventory reset would also stack in containers if you left them there. So they'd be prepared every time the reset hit so you could just stack up on their gold. Used to have something like 3-4 million gold by mid act two.

I mention this because their fix was to have anything inside a container be taken out upon selling. I would still recommend finding people with large gold pools that you don't buy from so you don't mix the low level gear with the stuff you might want to buy. Vendors don't clear the stuff you sell to them after all.
