Is there a lot of dialogue to read?
I really want to get into this game or even these types of games but I really don't feel like reading a novels worth of text everytime I talk to someone... It completely takes me out of the experience when I have to pause and read text for 10mins...

Or can anyone recommend games like this without so much text to read? The shadowrun series looked good but I heard it's the same thing with the text

Being honest, it doesnt seem like you will enjoy the game all that much. It is a really good game but theres a tonn of benefit talking to everyone you see and everyone has a story to tell that isnt necessarily relevant. The problem here is that the game is pretty difficult to progress in and you really need to explore all your options and speak to everyone in order to complete enough quest to level. If you try to focus too hard on getting through the story and dont take up as many side quests as possible you will fall behind pretty fast in level and gear and just being underleveled by 2 will mean you will have an extremely hard time progressing. If you dont care about having a narative experiance than the game is likely not for you, this game funtions similar to dungeons and dragons in that respect.

I have played the first Divinity OS though and I found it too much for me. Is it more or less compared to the first one?

yep and your being lazy The First one didn't have that much text and most of was spoken dialog.

RPG's alwasy have tons to say it's part of the experience and characterization, story , etc.

Well.. wouldn't the act of playing a video game already be considered lazy? lol

I just don't have that much time to invest into reading so much text. Most of it from what I remember in the first game had nothing to do with what I was doing. It was just... useless.

So many other RPG's can tell a great story without so much text.

If I wanted to read so much, I could just read a fantasy novel...

A narrator reads all the text and each npc has a voice over. The only thing you’ll have to read is what response you want to pick in dialogue
There is a lot of dialogue but it is easy to skip. Just be nice to everyone except demons and your all good.

Depends on the game. But no, not if compared to passive entertainment.

Slow down, life is to be savored.

Basically take all of The Witcher 3's cutscenes, and spend that amount of time reading. Where there are cutscenes in most games, there's reading to be done here.

There's voice over for every dialogue including descriptions in between speech by an excellent narrator. I guess the only thing you would "have" to read is skimming through options to reply - but that doesnt really feel like reading as once you hear the speech skimming through responses is usually quick and easy. You don't have to even read the responses if you don't really care about the outcomes too much either, just always go with the safe option or the option that ends the convo early.

Would I be missing out on story though? Like if I speed read or just pick "safe" optiions without reading the whole thing, will I still understand wtf is going on?

Thanks for the replies btw, this is helping me out a lot.

See that's an RPG done right imo. I loved the witcher 3. Perfect example of story telling through excellent cutscenes and character exchanges done in a cinematic way.

I just wish these turn based rpg's could do the same thing... or at least cut down on all that filler text. It was especially draining when playing coop in the first Divinity. Me and my friend just wanted to get to the good parts. The gameplay.

Very honest answer. Thank You
Reading is Important in this game.
If you don't Read and Talk to majority of NPC, you're going to lose a lot of Information.
Same as what happen with DOS1.
