Best ways to protect against charm?
I just had a character be charmed by an enemy and they used up a bunch of extremely valuable arrows (including one i was lead to believe was important in order to assassinate a target). This is irritating, how can I avoid this in the future? What spells block it, or can i craft a potion of some kind? Im trying to avoid spoilers, but i figure recipes and stuff are fine.

The spell clear minded, from the pyromancy school. There may be a few other spells, but that's the only one I can think of. I think there are a few potions you can craft to resist it, and armor can some times have buffs like "Immune to charm," but I've never used either.

Peace of mind from pyro can, as well as strong will potions. Fire essence in a potion bottle should make one. The best protection? keep your armor up.

Oof, meant peace of mind. Clear minded is the actual status effect that it applies.

If you use the crafting mod you can craft a helmet to have immunity against charmed.

I tried to win the battle with the doctor hundreds of times and tried different strategies, but it seems impossible to win. I equipped a helmet with immunity to charm on Lohse and sent her far away from the rest of my party. Then sent my rogue inside sneaking and tried to kill the nurses one by one. The problem is that every time the doctor's turn comes, he instantly charms Lohse no matter what I do and then I instantly die. I also tried to teleport one enemy at the time closer to the exit of the house and kill them, but when the doctor's turn comes, the same thing happens. I am playing Definitive Edition. Did anyone else have this problem? Did he manage to kill the bastard in the end?

You can dismiss Lohse and get a Mercenary from Sergeant Zrilla, yes you might need to give her Lohse's gear or buy one but otherewise Mercenaries function as a normal character. Then use him or her to kill Doctor, dismiss the mercenary and get Lohse back.

Also, which difficulty you are playing on ? If its on easier difficulties then it shouldnt be so outlandish to land a victory with average party atleast, unless you have some awful classes like one handed warriors with shields aka tanks, dedicated healers and generally scattered damage sources. Game doesnt exactly tell you that they are bad (And they become much, worse the higher you go with difficulty) because how you win fights in this game is to go full DPS, you wont need tanks or healers if nobody is left alive.

Even with charm immunity, Lohse is charmed? That doesn’t sound right…. The fight is usually rough, but not unbeatable.

Andramaliks charm isnt the same as the charm from summoning tree, its story-based ability. I always solved it via mercenary or by simply detaching Lohse and leaving her in front of the hospital while 3 of us kill the deamon if my party is very strong.

While true, that very much used to work to prevent losing control of her. It was a go-to strategy that worked for me and many others. Either way , the charm wasn’t instant either, unless it is if you didn’t take out the candles or something.

Since Lohse is a player in our co-op group, I'm curious how this would play out for us. Is the charm still unavoidable, or would Peace of Mind do the trick? We can hardly dump the poor girl and use a mercenary instead... tempting though that may be. :D

If she’s charmed and there’s another character still available for the player to control, Lohse will be permanently lost to you and the player would take over any other character. When she’s the only player character, the game ends.

Peace of mind didn’t usually work if I recall, though it might’ve delayed it. I remember needing to use Strong Will potions for the immunity effect. You can occasionally find a helmet with it too.

I haven’t experienced how it plays out too recently however, so if something has changed and charm immunity does not protect her, I wouldn’t be aware.

Thanks for that. Sounds kinda... extreme. It seems like Lohse should maybe come with a heads up - "WARNING: If you choose to play this character with a group of friends, be aware that you will probably not be able to finish the game with them. Tough cookies, that's just how the story plays out. Live with it."

Since Lohse in our group is played by my real-life girlfriend - and she absolutely loves the game and this particular character - I'm not sure our relationship will survive me breaking this news. Oh woe is me....

Pretty sure there are ways to permanently lose ANY character depending on specific choices, the universal one being with accepting The Doctor's offer (when Lohse isn't present). I think Sebille has a specific one too.

When playing as Sebille, the interaction with Shadow Prince is different as if she was a companion, as a companion, you can lose her permamently if you mess it up but as playable character you will use source blast to stop it automatically in dialog.

So Lohse, is unique in this sense that she can get perma killed in her own story when played both as a companion and as a avatar.
