Use the element of the same color on them, e.g. red=pyro=fire, blue static=aero=lightning. This is hinted in the book you find.

I've got a blue and a red one in front of me. The red one is sitting in a large area of fire, and they both have 100% resistance to everything?

Use Teleport to move them around :)

you can also physically move them like barrels

If you stack them on top of each other they stop exploding... Hmmm... that doesn't seem to be true. Lemme do more investigating.
I think it may be that they stop exploding if you stack the same color on top of itself.

Here's what I have figured out (please correct me if I am wrong):
The bulbs stop exploding if they are on top of another bulb of the same color.
If multiple different bulbs are stacked, only the top one has any effect.

i stack the same color cause it stops them, never thought about stacking multible to see if only the top works.
for same color they don't have to be physically on top of each other, just close enough to hit each other, they suck up their own terrain when you do that too, so you can use em to clear up areas if your willing to

Didn't know you could move them.. lol.

I spent ages trying various combinations - water on the red (fire) ones, fire on the fire ones, and so on.
Then I started by moving them one by one into the area nearby that's burning, nut sometimes moving them set them off.
So I got fed up, beefed up my armours and ran through the darned things, talking to all the heads and looting, and eventually limping my way through.

Abit late to the party but found a weird quirk with the bulbs. Drop a red bulb right next to a blue bulb creates an alternating storm-cloud and fire trap. Its powerful enough that if you teleport the first deep-dweller you see into the AoE, its pretty much perma stunned and killed.

Haven't tried other colour combinations but I'm guessing it won't work as well since only the red bulb spits its element at regular intervals.
