There's no way that a the turtle fight - tricky even with 4 people - should be worth less XP than the Burro/Kana fight which is much easier.
Nothing in this game respawns. There is a finite amount of experience that you can obtain in the game. Optional encounters with customized experience gains are affordable. There's nothing wrong with that. And if they increased the exp on this fight, they'd have to take the exp away from another fight--because if they don't, you'll be overpowered. The devs don't want you to be overpowered for the remainder of the game.
I can believe that you had no problems with the Turtle fight, I actually did well on the Crocodile fight all the way up until they caste fear, which lead immediately to a TPK. But that's not my point.
The fight certainly difficult compared to the Burro/Kana combat encounter, which you get more XP for. You also get more XP for giving a bottle of alcohol to Dr. Leste and asking her if she has potions for sale than you do for fighting the Voidwoken Turtles.
HENCE THE REASON FOR THIS POST. DUH.
Nearby loot is irrelevant to XP. Loot is random and can be (often is) crap. Crates have about an 80% chance of having jack-all.
That is completely ridiculous nonsense. Try looking at the numbers.
Amount of XP needed to go from level 1 to level 2: 2000.
Amount of XP needed to go from level 2 to level 3: 6000.
That amount of XP needed is not cumulative, either (meaning only 4000 XP needed), because my just-reached-level-2 stat sheet says I have 1000/6000.
The Turtles are a level 2 encounter. 300 XP is a whopping 5% of a level at PC level 2. Considering that the turtles are one of two (2) combat encounters at level 2 as far as I can tell (and the second one is optional and missable if you don't do it immediately), it's totally stupid to say that increasing the XP that fight gives you would make you overpowered for the rest of the game.
Hell, even if you did that at level 1, that proposed 1200 XP wouldn't be enough to level you up without doing several other things as well.
