How to kill mother tree?

So, basically on Nameless Isle I killed Shadow Prince and freed Sebille. Looted everythin and carried on. Then I found this Mother Tree - trusted the elves from driftwood and became Sebille became new Mother tree (sounded like right thing to do despite some dude on Bloodmoon island tolling the tree is evil). When I came out of the lair - Saheila told I must free elves and kill Mother tree despite I'm already rooted. So went in back for the kill, killed the scion guarding the tree along with all those spawns yet Mother Tree seems invulnerable.


So how do I kill that tree. Googled smth about using death fog grenade (supposedly found on Shadow Prince - which wasn't the case) - so I feel like smth got bugged?? Tried everything at disposal on Nemeless Isle and nothing works.

The grenade works while the prince is alive and allied with you (see description on it), and he gives it to you, it isn't loot. If I remember right, I could kill the heart with the usual methods, since I did not use the bomb.

But I've tried everything - nothing works, can't even aim at it and when I interact with it, it says smth like: "This is heart of mother treee (bla bla bla)" and no options are given. So basically can't get grenade, because prince is dead, tree is immune to traditional damage (at least for me personally), Sebille has no dialogue options and Sebille's quest hangs on being asked to kill the tree...

I did it without deathfog. I think I killed everything and then clicked on the mother tree with Sebille.

So it seems like it got bugged, oh well, yet another bugged quest then :/

thought sebille died on the boat...hell I spoke to her spirit even.

That depends on your companion choices.

Did you try spirit sight? At least the tree on the isle required it. And just to make sure: did you ctrl-click her for forced attack?

Yeah, tried everything, nothing works. Left it as it is, nothing more I can do and it's no wonder, many quests got bugged if you do something in wrong order or stuff like that.

i also could not kil it at first, i had to kill the shadow prince before

I completed the quest yesterday and can not confirm bugs.
Perhaps they will only occur if you solve the quests in different order.

I came to the mother tree AFTER I had killed Sebilles master along with Sebille.
Sebille wanted to talk to the elf there, which I allowed.
The Elf ate the heart and then asked Sebille to become the new mother-tree.
When I convinced her not to do so, I had to fight the elves, three dryads and some totems.
Said and done.
When leaving the heartchamber, I met Saheila, who asked Sebille to kill the mother tree.
I turned around and let Sebille interacted with the tree, confirmed and finished.
It followed a short fight against Wooden Elfs (or something like that if I remember right) and after leaving the heart chamber, ALL NPCs in the temple were also aggressiv by sight and attacked my Group.

So if you want to do that, buy all the items that interest you from NPCs first.

So few differences there (tho order is pretty much the same): I ate heart myself (I'm elf too) and I said she should become a new mother tree once she dies. Maybe I couldn't kill mother tree once Sebille was rooted, even if quest log suggested otherwise after Saheila insisting I must end tyrany of the mother tree.

Today I moved to arx and quest log on Sebille says smth like "she's finally free of her master, mother tree and everything else...." so I don't even know what to think, but I guess it will do as it is :)

Seems like some Quests need a workup about their closing sequenzes.
My Questlog sometimes says "I left without helping them" although I got a Quest reward.
But hey, as long as its just the Questlog, I'm fine with that.

I quest offers a reward - you know you completed it and log entry doesn't matter. However in this case - I wasn't sure if I'm done - log suggested I'm not done yet and I also had impression the quest is not done yet (there was no reward as such) - so sometime it gets confusing, where you are not sure if you should dig deeper or you are done or it's simply a bug.

After u kill the scion guard and its spawns, did u click on the mother tree?
Ive got the same situation as u (got rooted), used my other party to hit the scion guard, kill all, only then that I use sebille to click on the tree, use her tag option, the tree died.
Went out, talk to saheila, quest complete.

The Black Prince or whatever his name is on the nameless isle gives you a box of deathfog to put in the heart of the mother tree. He gives you the quest to kill her.
