IDK maybe cause people tend to use bridges and the troll can take advantage of that.

Well "troll under the bridge" is the character in many tales. So probably they made them according to this.

Because economy is in recess, trolls couldnt find a job. Trolls had a choice: Live under the bridge or own the bridge.
Traditionally...that's what trolls do. They live under bridges and ask for tolls. "the three billy goats gruff' being one of the earliest and most popular takes to make the motif popular. Tolkien didn't go along with it though...:)

They really missed the opportunity to let you steal someone's goat to get by the trolls.

Cyclops had a thing for satyrs. I was making a reference to billy goat's gruff.

Better to make a living as a troll on a bridge than having them inside the cities wouldnt you think

I wouldn't say advantage, they offer a service.
In exchange for paying their toll they keep bad things out.

The better question is, why do they like gold soo much.

Not like they can go int he city to buy stuff with it.

Grog kills voidwokens and shiz.
The other troll just hides and extort 3 gold coins from kids and magisters, I think.
Dont see a single non-human corpse there

Well Smaug doesn't spend any of its gold either.
They just like hoarding shiz, I think.
I know that feeling because I hoard elixirs in every single game without using any single one.
matter of fact, Im hoarding huge health potion as we speak and ever plan to use any.
