Ranger? Wayfarer? which is better?
hello

i ve tested a ranger (with warfare) seems ok.

but the wayfarer has on top some nasty magic, like poison arrows etc. (Ifan Ben-Mezd is also a wayfarer)
do you think wayfarer is a more interesting choice in a long run?

I usually like rangers by default...but I went with Ifan as wayfarer because I think it works better...I just Consider him a ranger anyway!

but if go for Wayfarer, kinda cant really focus on warfare anymore right? since you gotta add points up to be able to use poison stuff effective

I've been doing a lonewolf run and my Ifan is a ranger(wayfare) and he one shots most enemies right now. Although I don't even need wayfare anymore I should be changing out of it since her crit is 90% now.

Classes don't matter for the main character at all due to ability to customize them.

They matter for companions - Although this is namely in starting abilities. Which can be surprisingly significant; especially on Tactician, when you have very few options early on. Wayfarer has more utility IMO due to Pet Pal and Fossil Strike + Pin Down both giving some CC options.

I actually turned Ifan into a Conjurer though. Keeps pet-pal and lets me minimize the early game equipment issues.

You won't really be using the geo part of wayfarer to do damage to be honest. It's good to entangle/slow/cripple with a few points in geo but focusing on warfare is far better for damage. You want those arrows to punch through armor.
