Academy Secrets in Nameless Island

Spoilers Ahead. I want to discuss some devices and areas I cannot access.

In the Academy of the Nameless Island there is a library with some ghosts. In the side there is a tablet sitting beside an eternal desk. Upon touching the tablet gives stun effect and changes to Strange Contraption of sort. Same thing with a switch few paces ahead. I dont know what these two for. I have explored the rest of the academy but have not gained any knowledge for these two.
Secondly, I can see there is a section separated by a huge crevice beside the library near the strange contraption. But I cannot reach that area in any way possible. I want to know how to get to that area.

I can't see your screenshots.
For your first question: those devices are for opening the door to the Forbidden Library. To open the door, follow Master Tremly's footsteps and do exactly as he does. The starting point is his chair in the south-eastern corner of the library, after he says 'I must check on the Chancellor...'.
Second question: that area is connected to the easternmost part of the Lava Fields, and the lever is on the other side. But I'm pretty sure you can just use Tactical Retreat.

Thank you for the response. I have checked and tried but cannot use tactical retreat or teleportation. I think it was the hidden entrance to Academy from Lava Field.

Use tactical retreat, not from the library but from the Teacher's Hall. The door is behind that laser beam device or whatever it's called. Around x626, y637.

Why don't you use spirit vision and check what the master is doing for a little while.
