Counting Your Chickens: I've Lost Peeper (Spolier warning, maybe)
So I started the quest on my way to going to the Meistrs House in Driftwood. After I got the Spirit Vision to finish the quest, the little Chicken (Peeper) has gone missing, and now I can't finish the quest. And he didnt die!

If you portal he remains where you last ported from: you have to manually run to his father.

Not to worry, he found his way back to me. Dunno how I'm afraid.

Quicksaving and reloading that save will respawn Peeper next to you.

Took me a good 6 hours before I found him again...
For me, he was in wreckers cave. After the ambush / lower section, right at the end where all the mobs are in the "nest" area.... Peepers why.
