My computer was built in 2012, but has Mid-range graphics card from last year. It runs awesome.
Validate your game file, since youre on Steam.
Well, the first time I ran the game, I streamed it on Twitch and it ran smoothly. I played it after a couple of patches without streaming and experienced the stuttering. Also, I did roll back my drivers to play OW since there are issues with the latest AMD drivers and OW, but I've updated them before I played DoS2. Did you install this game to an SSD by any chance?
Have you tried making adjustments to the graphics settings, either at game level or your card?
Dumb question, but have you restarted your computer?
I get the same issues not matter which graphical setting. LMAO I didn't restart when I played lasyt night, but I'll try it now.
My game runs beautifully now. I have no idea what I did.
I Know This Thread Is Old And Many Of You May Not Be Playing Divinity Anymore However I Would Like To Post My Fix As I Had A Lot Of Microstutter In This Game And I Am A Nut For Absolute Smooth Performance.
After About Three Weeks Of Trying Random Things, I Feel I Have Almost Always Smooth Gameplay With Only The Random Load Hitch Every Hour Or Two. Also I Know This Solution Is Gunna Sound Weird And Make No Sense But It Worked For Me
First: Go Into Steam, Right Click Properties On Divinity Original Sin 2 And Disable Cloud Saving On The Updates Tab
Second: Open Up Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3d Settings > Program Settings Tab - And Add A Profile For Divinity Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition
Change These Settings In NCP
Maximum Pre Rendered Frames = Use The 3d Application
Open GL Rendering GPU = *Set Your GPU
Power Management Mode = Prefer Maximum Performance
Texture Filtering - Quality = High Performance
Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization = On (This Made A Difference And Was The Last Thing I Changed And Seems To Help)
Triple Buffering = On (You Will Be Setting This Twice - I Know Its Weird And Makes Little Sense)
Vertical Sync = On
VR Pre-rendered Frames = Use The 3d Setting
Third: Your In Game Options Set To What Is Appropriate For Your PC (This Guide Is Mainly For People Getting Stutter When Their PC Can Clearly Handle The Game)
Then Set Your Display Setting To These
Resolution - Set Your Screen Res And Highest Hz Rate Your Monitor Offers
Display Mode - Fullscreen
V-sync - Triple Buffering
Then Enable Frame Cap And Set It To What Your Display Is Running At
For Example My Monitor Has A 75 Hz Refresh And Is V-sync To 75 FPS, So I Set My Frame Cap To 75 Also
If This Still Doesn't Work Try Utilising The In Game V-sync With FPS Cap Or Use The NCP V-sync With In Game V-sync Off And The FPS Cap Enabled
You Can Also Set Your Priority To High Within Task Manager > Details > Right Click EoCapp And Change. However, Once I Changed Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization = On I No Longer Saw An Improvement In Results
Anyway I Now Have Smooth Gameplay, No Tearing, And I Can Pan The Camera And Rotate It Without Seeing Small Hitches Happening In Game
I Honestly Think The Change To Trilinear Optimisation Was The Difference Maker. I Noticed That The Stutter Had Something To Do With The Textures Loading In At High Speeds Regardless Of Whether Texture Streaming Was Disabled Or Not. I Looked At The Cores Performing During Gameplay And The Game Uses All Cores But Some Of The Cores Where Doing Slightly More Or Less Than Others (At Least On My Machine) - The Problem Lies In How The Game Uses The CPU
Enabling That Function I Feel Optimizes That Process And Somehow Helps The Game Generate Whatever It Needs When Panning The Camera In Game At High Speeds
That's Probably All Incorrect But Hey, At Least I Can Really Enjoy Performance On DOS2 Now
Cheers
I Have A Few Other Small Things That You Can Try If You Still Cant Get It To Work
Hit Me Up
CPU - i7 8700k
GPU - Geforce GTX 1080ti
Windows 10
RAM - 16GB
It improves a little bit of my fps but it doesn't remove my "stuttering every 5 seconds" problem. I'll try update my driver and see if it works (if there is an update anyways). my gpu is nvidia 1050. everything is on 5-20 percent but the gpu is capped on 100%, Low settings. lol. Other similar games have it on Medium Setting and it only 50-60 percent of the gpu.
It wasn't like this when I played classic last year but now I'm returning to this game with Definitive and Classic having the same stutter problem
nvidia 1050 gtx
ram 24 gb
ssd samsung 970 evo plus
cpu i7 7700hq
update : updated the driver from 2018 to 2020. nothing changed. still gpu utilization 100% and still freezing
