Selling Malachite?
The description of Malachite says selling it to a knowledgeable vendor will reap a fantastic reward, are there actually vendors who will buy it for a hogher than normal price? How about other items like Ruby?

AFAIK the gems are all vendorbait, but no specific trader pays more for gems than any other. Sell them for cash.

They could theoretically be used in crafting, I suppose.
