Trying to find some better mage-type robes/headgear. Not having any luck with the merchants near the center of town.

Try upstairs in the tavern. For the rest, just check back every hour or so, and every level-up. Dunno that clothing is treated as something separate from armor - could just be bad luck on the vendor rolls.

The vendor in the undertavern arena probably has the best selection of gear in Driftwood.
