Garlic is great stuff
Theres this witch named Radeka. she will attempt to give you a disease debuff before you fight her. Garlic totally saves you from that. all you need to do is eat a bit before you get into a coversation with her.

She made out with my undead rogue. So funny. Was totally worth dealing with the disease after.
