Can you save the silent monk at Gareth's Family Farm?
I know this game is full of morally ambiguous decisions and I was wondering if anyone found a way to save the silent monk elf girl(Donna) on Gareth's Family Farm?

yes. I believe you need to persuade Gareth to abandon revenge.

No you have to kill them all

well are they rly saved if you leave them ther with ther souls suffering and unabel to act? a (close to) lifeless shell that is a prison to the soul is hardly saving them...that part of the game rly made me feel

Dang, I figured you'd have to kill them but was hoping for a more happy ending. Thanks!

As far as I'm aware - YES - you can indeed save the silent monks. It does involve a quest thread that - I think - I cut off for myself by persuading Gareth to forsake revenge when I first met him digging his parents graves.

I don't want to add spoilers so I suggest you google the quest title for more indept answers & I'll update this post If I find there IS a way to do this after persuading Gareth to 'chill'

It does involve a story character I've had no mention of (though I have an item belonging to them) and making use of your ability to see ghosts etc.

So there's hope!

erm...not so much, I'm afraid :(

It seems my optimism was based on my own misreading of a thread based on finishing Gareths quest ( and not realizing that Gareths parents need not necessarily be dead in the first place!)

That's not to say - it's NOT possible - the 'Doctor' quest nearby, afterall, is an example of curing a recently 'infected / silenced' person. (maybe its a line worth following up - Larian can be very unforgiving in their solutions sometimes!)

I, therefore, have no confirmed saving of the silent monks :(

Damn it's fun when some game is complicated and new, I googled for answers, almost expecting everything on a silver platter. But it seems that no one here knows a way to save those monks, even though at least two of them show signs that they can still think inside the prison that their skull is now.

Rip. I was expecting we can save them, especially if you have finished the doctor's quest successfully. You can ask his assistance again, bring some surgery tools, and maybe help all the Monks you see in the game. It'd probably a big work on devs' side, but I just don't want to see a questline with its only closure as "kill this dude."

I mean, you could just persuade the guards to leave and then just not kill them and leave them there. That quest can close in the journal if you persuade him to stop the revenge angle and go back on the ship. Or speak to ghostly parents/Get Jonathan's gloves off their corpse and then tell Gareth it was Jonathan who did the deed and Gareth just forgets about the Silent Monks all together.

Overall, ain't no cure for those particular Silent Monks despite the doctor thing though.

Went through a whole personal quest to find out if I can truly save this one recently turned silent monk. Which is where I found this dead thread. Suffice to say the answer is no. Even though you sort of figure out a trick right before you meet up with Gareth again, you can't save her. The moment you step out to go talk to the doctor nearby Gareth will take care of her. I just think its some pretty twisted writing that is supposed to pull at your strings.

Sorry for the necro..

Funny story, it was this quest that made me quit the game during my last playthrough. Specifically Gareth acting like a d1ck towards my character after I tried to comfort him. Between him, Malady and Meistr Siva I'd just had enough. I hope Larian learns something for BG3 and doesn't create another world where the good guys are unlikeable jerks, but what I've seen so far doesn't give me much hope.

During the quest you cant help them but at the end of the game its revealed Malady can fix silent monks though it's not revealed how she did or if she can actually repeat the process.

Bro that's called Character Development. It's a well-written character who changes throughout the game, shaped by the events that he experiences during the game. A character who is just plainly "Good" or just plainly "Evil" and stays that way till the end, is a crappy character with no depth. Gareth's change of attitude is realistic. Because bro, his parents just died. His heart is broken. Of course he's gonna become all dark and gloomy. You can't expect him to just turn to you and be like "Oh hello there friend, my parents just died, but never mind that, how's your journey to Divinity going? Slain any more Voidwoken lately?". That would make absolutely 0 sense with the narrative.

I mean it's kinda ridiculous to quit the game altogether just because you disliked 3 side characters with whom you merely exchange 15 sentences during the entire game, if even that.
Like really bro? That's all it takes for you to quit playing a game? xD
