Making Gold Without Thievery
Is there a good gold making method that doesn't require you to pick pocket everyone?

Me and my friend are doing a co-op Lone Wolf Tactician playthrough and after leaving Fort Joy we decided to check out respecing and seeing what builds would work best together, but coming up with gold for spells and armor is extremely difficult.... He pickpockets but neither of our thievery are high (mine is 0) ... I have 4 bartering but still have a hard time with gold.

I guess it doesn't help that "resources" you can find to craft things dont "respawn" because I wanted to respec into an archer that uses elemental arrows and grenades....but getting the materials to make them is either expensive or limited.

Any advice would be welcome :)

Have one person spec into Lucky Charm and loot everything while the other specs into Bartering and sells the spoils.

Hi luck will definitly get you a lot of purple drops most especially if you have gear that overdrives the point cap.

Lucky charm might work for you. You can keep the loot you need and sell off the rest.

So thats what i started with, i had nothing but lucky charm and he had a couple points in thievery, but we still find ourselves constantly broke lol

And of course I've swapped back over to bartering, but idk

TBH, even without thievery you'll be swimming in gold eventually. Of course changing specs and learning all the skills isn't helping you any. If you really insist on continuing doing that, I would suggest you save, try something, if you don't like it, reload etc etc.

Something else you can do to maximize your money is just give gold to vendors to max out your affection or whatever it is. It seems a lot of vendors only take 1-2k gold to max them out (which really is a pittance), and this will cause stuff sold by you to be valued 20% higher, and you get a 25% discount from them. I'd do this on skillbook and weapon/armor vendors and just make sure you buy and sell from them.

After Act 1 on my dual lone wolf playthrough I think I pickpocketed gold like 3 times and I really didn't even need to, plus stuff becomes so expensive the only stuff you can pickpocket is the gold, and only up to the 6k of rank 5 (or slightly more if you have items with theivery)

@zara interesting, yeah we're still in act one at driftwood currently

Fort Joy is Act 1, Driftwood is Act 2 (technically there are no acts, instead it's chapters, but most people say Acts based on large landmasses)

Ah i see, yeah and it looks like there is no way to go back to fort joy eh?

Was gonna see if i missed loot back there lol

That is correct, you can not go back to previous acts, hence why it pops up saying something like "if you proceed you will never be able to return here"

Right, hmmm I wish resources would respawn.... crafting doesn't seem too worth it in the game because resources are so limited

Without thievery you will always be broke if you keep buying better and better gear each level

Lucky charm with gear works wonders{find more that half of the gear i need to use}also crafting is a joke now in this game and more than half of it is junk. Sell it without asking for money and watch the discounts you get later. Really helps.

If you're running lone wolves you should be fine for money anyway. Your expenditure is halved but income stays the same. On my lone wolf classic playthrough I had no issues with money (at least not after about half way through act 1) even before I started abusing the coin purse bug.

Lucky charm is almost as powerful as thievery, but a lot more underused. If some day they nerf thievery, everybody will jump to lucky charm.
