If you tell Gareth to kill him, you can avoid his parents dying, if you just ignore the cabin and go direct for Gareth house the parents will be dead and jonathan at the black pits.
If you kill jonathan you will have to save gareth family from Void Wokens, so be prepared for that.
i've mercykilled all silent monks in Fort Joy.(didn't get to act2 yet :))
I think what his trying to say - is that Gareths parents need not actually be dead. When I first encountered Gareth he was digging his parents graves- but that's not so for everyone. I'm not entirely sure what the mechanic involved is.
Yes..it's my last ditch hope on saving the monks - but passing the persuasion checks has you accompany him to save another girl in the basement of that house. I'm hping because she can be saved - that the silent monks can be also. But no joy yet I'm afraid!
Apparently it's not souls sucked out in all cases...it's mind maggots!
Well if you watch the second season of preacher.. ;) You can give people without souls 1% of your own.. maybe that'd work here as well.
