How to defeat Possessed Dwarf demon?
I managed to stay far away from it and down its armor. Went to turn it into chicken and it immediately possess one of my char. Is there no way to avoid being possessed? It seems like the demon can possess even if its not his turn.

If I hit the dwarf and heal him back up before he dies, and repeat that... the dwarf still dies (even though his life bar is at 80% full) and I have to fight the demon. If I then keep attacking him until 0hp, I get experience and STILL have to fight the demon. I've read this thread (and a couple of others) and none of it seems to really apply. No matter what I do, the dwarf always dies and I always have to fight the demon.

This fight is hard in solo.
But few things can help
- dont brake last chain until dwarf will be knocked down after your shots
- unequip weapon after some shots on demon - so you won't kill the dwarf being crazy
- potions for ice and lightning ressistances
- Living on the edge
etc

For party its easy to just use few scrolls of rebirth

P.S. this quest is still broken and won't close (same as on classic edition and was reported)

Try using a lot of death resist. If you put that on just about everything, notihng can actually die.

Just keep all your characters in the other room and send an incarnate in. The demon can't possess summons. It's a completely idiotic fight if you do it the "correct" way.

It actually just shows a good team build from a not so good one. I've done that fight proper while also keeping the dwarf alive. It isn't easy, but a strong team can do it just fine. You just need to be a well balanced team that can take advantage of your own weaknesses. The only thing you need "extra" is a few cooldowns of death resist. Or just have Peace of Mind on everyone (or some form of charm immunity) and the demon will possess you without taking control. Then you just take it with you.

Ok, finally got that one, in Definitive Edition, and here's how it went :

- I used spirit vision, found and talked to the priest ghost, opened the safe room.
- Found the dwarf in the center/bottom of it, with 4 of those "source shackles" bounding him to 4 pillars around.

- I attacked him (talking to him or not doesn't change anything, I think, at this point), while he was still bounded to pillars and all.
- Upon first attack, he tells me to keep beating him (and the demon inside him tells me to stop).

"Torture" attempts :
- I attacked him for 10 minutes long, restoring his health when it was going down too much (keeping it between 100 and 500 HP), but observed 2 phases :
1 - first his armors (physical and magical) goes back up, you don't seem to hurt him. (lasted a minute or so)
2 - at some point, he slipped on the ground, never went back up, and his armors weren't resplenishing either. And a weird wave of blood was getting out of him to fuse into the pillars, at each new attack.

After 10 minutes of that (restorations + beat up of all sorts), I stopped, as I didn't see a demon coming out of him or anything new.
Though it seems weird, given the "blood waves", so I think I missed an element here.

"Freeing" the dwarf :
- I destroyed the pillars. Dwarf was at 50 HP, the demon appeared right next to him, but with all health & armors etc.. (so, no visible effect from previous "torture" ?)
- I was able to throw a few stuff at the demon before its first turn.

"Possession" fight :
- After demon's 1st turn, he started possessing people around, AUTOMATICALLY, upon being damaged. (and damn did I tried a whole lot of stuff : not attacking, proximity, dot debuff, invocations, etc... No big reveal here : the possession automatically take over one of your nearest true characters engaged in the fight)
- It seemed I had one window/could play only one character's turn of "free shot" directly at him between each possession, before next automatic one.
- And it seemed the demon get out of possessed body each time you damage it and it's rather down in HP (like below 200) . If it's just down in HP, the demon doesn't leave the body by itself. (I've tested that too)
- No spell/skill found to manually get rid of that possession (and I've tried a lot of them)
- Weird characters colors during all the fight (green/red circles at random, from character to character, possessed or not). I just ignored those and kept fighting the possessed one.

Earnings :
Killing dwarf before liberating him from demon gave me 14.000 xp.
Reloading, and killing the demon instead (with possessions fight and all) gave 7.200 xp, but then talking to the dwarf gave me 36.000 xp.
AND the dwarf, if not hostile, gives you location of his "treasure". (in fact : just 10 gold coins at a corner of the island, loool. Still a nice touch, I think, to avoid hammering some kind of "good way" of handling this quest)
Priest is just happy and vanishes.

There we go, I hope it helps people navigating a bit better around this amazingly interesting quest/fight !
Never practiced such an exorcism before, lol. Really took me 3 hours of play & reloads to try to figure out the best outcome possible, and I'm still not even sure I've found it!

This is what I did, and it entailed 50% skill and 50% luck..

After killing the possessed dwarf, the demon appeared. Sebille severely damaged him and reduced his life to less than 50%. After that, he possessed Sebille. When I released her from the demon (aka damaging her up to below 20% life), he reappeared and did a corpse explosion and killed himself.

Ifans wolf, a bone widow and a poison flower summon did all of the work and none of my own got involved in the fight.

Be warned if you kill him somehow, and after that try to consume his body source it will start over and the one who consumed will get possesed... such a stupid fight. I solved it by knocking down dwarf and then teleporting it into the pit. After that my summoner created incarnate and placed totems without damaging demon. in the end of each turn i hide summoner by going away from pit so demon cant see her to posses...

Stupid fight? I'd argue its one of the best in the game. It actually has an interesting mechanic that takes some effort to overcome. Can't just brute force it like most fights.
