Braccus Rex [portal room] what does the switch do?

So in the maze, there's a portal, it leads to a lava room. in that room there are a few platforms you can teleport party members onto. on the middle platform there is a pressure plate.

I have searched the room, the maze outside, and can't find what it triggers. any help?

The pressure plate teleports your characters back out of the lava area.

My party doesn't get teleported out or anywhere when I step on it. My best assumption is that the level designers dropped one there and forgot to do anything with it

Hey how do you reach the middle platform ? I have tried to teleport my characters from every spot but there is just no way to reach it. I want to reach the skeleton.
