I ran with Lohse as the only companion I cared about from the beginning as well as Red Prince for comic relief and Sebille strictly since I needed a rogue.
By the end I had actually formed a real connection to Red Prince, understanding where he came from and why he is the way he is as well as watching him grow through our travels. Sebille went through the thickest storms with me, giving me the sensation of having a big sister with all its troubles and benefits. And Lohse, damn it Lohse. I haven't had this experience in any game before, and this includes my all-time favorites like Fallout or Baldurs Gate 2. As I got the reward for her personal quest, I just didn't know how to deal anymore. ♥♥♥♥, I'm still baffled by how much this affected me.
Spoiler part:
It made the final choice so much harder. Knowing I would have to give up those bonds my character (And I admit without shame: Me too) formed with those characters to become a god made me want to face the end of the world with them instead of averting it. ♥♥♥♥ me, let Gareth be the next divine or whatever, I just want to hang out with this rag-tag group of deliquents, noblemen and renegades until long after my bones have turned to dust.
Let's go, chief!
I'm going to spoiler my interpretation of it, despite it being a theory, just to be safe.
Talking to Lohse after beating Adrahmalik as well as some of the communication with Jahan before doing so reveals that Lohse is an absolute miracle in that her own soul still remains within her body even after being host to such a powerful demon for a long long time. The fact that Adrahmalik casts spells through her should make that impossible. I believe that the battle within Lohse pierced a different Veil alltogether from the one the main campaign deals with, the veil to Nemesis, the realm of Demons. She mentions in game that she wants to see the world rid of all demons after what she saw in Adrahmaliks personal plane, and given that she now has a way to tap into demonic energies within herself without the need for a demon may give her an unprecedented amount of power to do so, especially if she is the one to ascend.
She is also still a Medium, something that she was even before Adrahmalik found her, before she was revealed to be Godwoken. So even if she remains mortal, her friendship with a literal god (As long as you chose that path) may mean that she can become a god-channelling, Nemesis-power wielding, sprite-illusion weaving high priestess demon huntress that somehow stood back or worked in the shadows when Damian finally returned and was beaten the second time
She's also my love interest from the beginning, so roleplaying till the end - *small end-game roleplaying spoiler* will be forever toghether with me after the equal ending :3
That's what I meant by saying that they make the choice very very hard. Let Gareth do it. ♥♥♥♥, even Han. I just want to smoke Drudanae with Red Prince in the forbidden city when I visit with my Demon hunter wife Lohse and Sebille taking some time off for these regular stints we have.
And ride a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Dragon to the bar just for the fun of it. Do you think that Red Prince is going to introduce Dragon parking spots for such occasions?
