Thunderstorm might be THE BEST single skill in the game
This is no joke or troll post. For those of you who do not know, Thunderstorm is what i like to call an ultimate skill, it costs 4 action points and 3 source points to cast (one skill from each of the different combat ability schools has an ability with this cost, i call any skill of this tier an ultimate skill). This skill is so powerful that it is capable of one shotting entire encounters. The spell summons lightning bolts that crash down in a large area, doing MASSIVE damage to anything hit (your party is immune), and also stunning any enemy that gets hit. The thundersotrm lasts for 3 rounds. what this means is anything that gets cought by the lightning bolts is stuck in the thunderstorm for it's entire duration, stunlocked and completly unable to do anything because if your aero is even decently high, it will zap away every last bit of magic armor the enemy has in a single round plus do considerable hp damage to them. You can literally just pass your turns in some cases and the thunderstorm will just kill everyone just by itself.

Because of the 3 turn stunlock, immense damage, huge aoe range, and party immunity, this is IMHO one of if not the strongest single skill in the entire game. If you have a aero mage in your party, this is a MUST HAVE skill and i recommend it to any aero mage.

You can get it in act 2. It is pretty darn expensive though, it costs 8k gold

Is it better the meteor storm? I use Hail Storm. I would like to try it out, just the tooltip kinda put me off.

Only topped by the actual best skill. Blood Storm. Cause it's the same but the Metal version of it.

You need to finish a certain quest later in the game. Don't want to spoil anything. Just go north in Driftwood.

Ive not used meteor storm. I imagine the damage is very similar, but where thunderstorm really shines is in its 3 round stunlock. Anything in the aoe is just screwed, and unable to do anything for 3 entire rounds. What this means is that you can use your other skills first to CC down a hard enemy, then drop thunderstorm on them which will let you keep the CC chain going by allowing you 3 rounds of cooldown reduction on your other abilities. You will rarely need it, but if you choose to chain CC, that is absolutly an option you can abuse.
In most fights, you will simply just drop thunderstorm on as many enemies as you can, and you consider them to be dead, and believe me, at the end of those 3 rounds, they are allmost gurinteed to just be dead. anything you cant get in the thunderstorm AoE you just kill with your remaining party members.

Now, as far as the 3 source point cost is concerned, that can be easily recovered by using your source vamperism, so the souce cost is, as far as im concerend, pretty much irrelivant.

Alternatively, just combine a hydro skill book with a necromancy skill book. One or the other must be for a source using spell.

Can't you just buy it from any vendor who sells Necromany though?

And to the topic: Why not cast Apotheosis and then ALL the source?
Hell, you could even do two Thunderstorms with Skin Shed.

But would that really work? Thunderstrom summons the lightning bolts on the first round it is cast immediatly after it is cast, every round after that right as the caster takes his turn. The Lightning bolts will allways resolve before the caster takes any of his actions. Would you get 2 sets of lightning bolts?

As insane as that sounds, it honestly sounds like a bit of a waste. 1 thunderstorm should be more than enough.
