Game forces you to kill a lot of people who should not be killed.
These Magisters are just terrified. They are brainwashed into thinking sourcerers are the ultimate evil. Take for example Magister Ames on top of the rock. I tried to talk him out of it but he attacked me anyway and I had to kill him.

killing a magister feels better than masturbating.
What are you talking about, OF COURSE these magisters have to die, they have stuff I want.

Even if they joined by being convinced, it was still their choice to turn a blind eye to what was going on and to continually choose to do horrible things without orders.

You cant save everybody. And most people are beyond "saving"(totally situational, and Subjective). You tried and failed. They then attacked you. You done all you can.
Now defend yourself and make sure you loot what they got.

I think we can all agree that they deserve horrific painful deaths. The question is do they deserve their corpses to be mutilated and decorated in town square? Also yes

if you can't think for yourself and go blindly 'Following Orders' then maybe you shouldn't be put in a position where you get to decide others peoples life . Which is pretty much what the Magister do , I don't go around killing them . But if they don't back away then they leave me no choice .

I agree it feels very satisfying.

Answer this question and you will answer if they all deserve to die. Was every member of the German Army in WW II a horrible evil twisted man who deserved to die. The answer I think is obviously not. The Leaders and men in charge where horrible twisted men who deserved to die. The German people and German Army for the most part where just brainwashed followers. And when your in a situation like that you do what everybody else does you follow and take orders. And belive what you are doing is the right thing.

@Viper, I agree with you - however, there are also quite a few ways to avoid battles with the magisters. For instance, leaving Fort Joy without killing the guards, or persuading your way into the magisters' ranks in Driftwood. This way, I managed to spare a lot of them. As for the ones you have to kill regardless - I know how much it sucks, but that's the nature of war - innocent men have to pay the price of foolishness and pride demonstrated by their superiors. If you finish your quest, you can do something to make the world a better place and ensure that things like this don't happen again.

did you really compare mentality of a real life event with a virtual fantasy game?

Agreed.

Personally, I try to compare it with a good stage-play or fantasy novel or movie, where most of the story is character interactions and non-combative struggles, with a few battles mixed in along the way and one epic battle at the end, followed by more character interactions and resolutions to their journey and development.

If you've ever acted in a stage-play in real life, or for that matter, played pen-and-paper RPGs like D&D before computer games turned RPGs into just number-crunching combat games, then you would understand.

The ones who deserve to die are the ones who either are Activly attacking you OR are in the way of a bigger goal. You can choose at anytime to spare some But that puts you at risk. A risk you must decide to take, The Same Risk they are deciding.

You:Should I spare him or attack him?
Enemy: Will he Spare me or attack me?
1-4 choices here end in blood

In a fight Morals DO NOT MATTER, Its Survival.
The magistars All had a choice. Some have change of heart, Most dont. They all know what they signed up for. Want in example that prove's what makes up Most of the magistars?
