Spears?
From what I understand, spears seem to be finesse based. What build would be good for a spear wielder, as most poly and warfare skills seems to scale off of strength, and spears can't backstab for scoundrel skills.

warfare scales off the attribute of the weapon. Not necessarily strength. That being said, I guess spears advantage is range and lots of attacks of opportunity. It's probably the best weapon if you want to make some sort of ranged/melee mix (which is a terrible idea though).

I can't exactly tell you how to build it, but I'll quote from nerdcommando.gamestudios' guide:

Main Stat: Finesse

Secondary Stat: Wits

Race: Human

Abilities: 1 Warfare, 1 Polymorph > 1 Necromancer > 10 Warfare > 10 Two-Handed Weapons
Talents: Opportunist > Unstable > Comeback Kid > Hotheaded > Picture of Health > What a Rush

Preset for NPCs: Knight

Explanation: works best in the party with heavy ground control. Fill the battlefield with lots of pesky auras so enemies are forced to run around, getting into that sweet attack of opportunity range. Chicken Form also combo-es nicely with this approach. Otherwise, you just have a decent damage output. Try to find some +Crit items too – two-handers profit from high crit chance. Necro is there for some self-heal and summoning, it’s not mandatory and can be any other school of magic. You can even go for the Scoundrel and take an early The Pawn for more mobility.

You can view the full guide here.

Warfare gives physical dmg boost does it not? 5% per level and something else too? So I'd go for that. If I remember right, the Polymorph preset had Warfare, Finesse and Polymorph. And the gear was heavy armor and spear. So I would go for those.

Basically, use Crowd Control (that'll be Grenades, Fire, etc.), enemies like to stray away from the elements, so if the floor is covered in fire, and the only way through to you is to walk through a small patch of floor that isn't on fire, then they'll walk through it.

Knowing that, simply mitigate the enemy and voila, they're screwed, because a Pike has a delicious range.

Why is it a terrible idea you can get good spears in shop and warfare really boost dmg for them. Take Executioner and Opportunist talent and watch getting 2ap points in every move the enemy take.

Pure 5% increased damage. It's more useful to go with Warfare than to go into One-Handed/Dual Wielding, etc., due to the fact that 5% flat damage on all physical weapons is a godsend.

Because you get better results if you focus on ranged as a huntsman and str as a melee. I have not seen Finesse armor with +warfare or +two handed which is what you would want. Instead you get Scoundrel, Huntsman and Dual wield which you get absolutely nothing from.

Warfare mostly + some control or buff spells that doesn't deal damage (because Necromancy as well as elemental magic skill need INT to scale damage, Polymorph needs STR, Hunter needs bow or crossbow, assassin skills need daggers.
