How do you activate the skull shrine south of Hannag?

There is a skull shrine/effigy south of Hannag and the Cloisterwood waypoint (X:61,Y:257). When i click on it, my character remarks "It does not respond to my touch. There must be a way to activate it." I used bloodrain on it but it doesn't do anything. I've also tried praying to the other three shrines and still nothing happens.

Yeah i had the same issue, past that point now and cannot go back but i'm also interested for a future playthrough.

As with most of those things you may find the solution by just playing the game, just doing other stuff and maybe something happens where you get the know how or the ability or something else, so i warn you to consider not reading the spoiler. And i highly recommend to not always use fast travel ;) Sometimes you may encounter new things on your way.

Full Spoiler After you free the Lich in Mordus Secret Chamber you may meet him in the forests, if you let him continue eating dead people you will find him at the skull shrine and he will open it.

Thank you! I killed that guy in the forest in my first playthrough, I'll let him live this time to see what happens. Guess I should stop fast traveling so I can notice more things haha

I free'd the lich but I never encountered him and I made sure to walk every step of the map and loot everything. Clearly i missed him somewhere.

If i remember correctly it was somewhere between the two troll bridges i was walking from the big troll to the small one. Sadly i have no savegame left where i could check the coordinates

Huh. I just killed him outright rather than let him leave. Had no idea he'd go unlock more stuff if I let him "live".

I saw that he was acquiring something at the skull altar, and i was curious and stole it before he disappeared, haha.
I stole his phylactery urn without him noticing it, dang Lich didn't even recognize me as an fellow undead...

you will meet him after freeing 2 times, gives more xps when you kill him at the third time :)
