Now it is too tempting...
I'm currently about to start my third playthrough on Honour Mode, the first two runs ended up with untimely deaths at lvl 1 (those bugs on the boat at the start - i played dead and their health completely regenerated while i was still half dead) and lvl2 (those massive frogs in the cave in Fort Joy - wiped most of my party, i escaped went back and resurrected my two bros but without the help of the NPCs who were killed in first battle I was completely destroyed after not positioning my party members close enough to hit with ranged attacks) .
i've got addicted to this type of ironman gaming as it really adds to the role-play feel knowing there is potentially a "game over man game over" moment around every corner.
the downside is that it takes a lot of time to eventually learn the ropes and get things right and, as someone else mentioned on here, it may hamstring those trying to experiment with the mechanics - i hope to get round that by experimenting in the easy fights (if there are any!)
i've played this method with wasteland 2 and pillars of eternity, just jumping straight into the hardest difficulty and ironman (self-imposed with wasteland2), plus going in relatively blind. with wasteland 2 i min/maxed but not with Pillars and after 40+ deaths and restarts i eventually finished PoE after 800 hours or so. yes i am that sad.
li'm not min/maxing at the minute with DOS2, just using the cool origin characters.
the secret to this playstyle imho is to enjoy the deaths as weird as that may sound, the eventual loss of a 20+ hours save file can be in an absolutely epic battle, or it can be the biggest d'oh! moment of your life, but it's a gaming experience you will never forget :)
the other bit of advice i'd give is be ultra cautious, at least 95% of my deaths in this play method have been running into situations without thinking or as a result of over-confidence. if in any doubt, turn back and explore somewhere else
Fire Resistance Potion, its not like the game doesnt tell you that she might be all about fire :)
Most of those fights that onehit your group in the first round are extremly easy with the right potion, sadly thats all what crafting can do :(
Wow man, you must have alot of time on your hands! I'm jealous lol
Yeah, I would do it that way too but I wouldn't have the time. So at the moment I backedup my Honour save lolololol....
But I only do it once every few hrs or so. I died to those bloody massive alligators around Fort Joy beach. They are Lvl3 and my party is Lvl2. Second retry I beat them by the skin of my teeth, had to reseruct 3 of 4 of my party members. Finally a game that is actually challenging!
I did not realise that attacking them with fire will heal them lol. Really need to know everything about the game to play in Honour mode.
Is anyone else finding that they need alot of reserruction spells in these modes?
Killed all those fire slugs with ease this time round. And also just killed griff and his possy pretty easily.
