You won't get cc'd a lot of time if you play carefully and use all the tools the game gives you. Lone wolf makes the game a lot easier most of the time cause your chars are overstated (?)(too mutch stats at a certain level vs ennemies stats).
Having 4 players makes the need to plane your fight and build, so (for me) it reinforce the tactical aspect of the game.

honestly a high dps ranger with glass cannon is godly, until they get charmed and decimate your team

Started the game as Summoner/Pyro But now swapped to Ranger/Summoner/Polymorph
approximately 7/10/5 and couple of points in ranged weaponry.

Polymorph (It givess you 1 attribute point per rank):
Spread your wings (immunity to surfaces and mobility)
Chameleon cloac (When stuff goes downhill)
Heart of steel (Physical armor is my current weakspot)
Apotheosis (This skill is insane, 2 turns of free source spells and +4 to all stats)
Skin graft (Reseting CD and removing statuses)

Summoner
Summon incarnate ( have at lest 10 points in summoning to have a beefy incarnate)
Farsight/Power infusion (Plain buffs for the incarnate. If you can spare the memory grab a couple of elemental infusions)
Summon totem (Works well if someone else can create surfaces for you)

Huntsman
Arrow storm (This deals truckloads of damage. Use in conjustion with Apotheosis)
Sky shot (Benefits from High-ground bonus regardless of elevation. )
everything else is optional.

I like :
Tactical retreat (haste and relocation)
Balistic shot (Works well with Farsight)
Marksman fang (Ignores armor)
Elemental arrowheads (If enemy has a little toomuch armor)

From perks I grabbed
Far out man (extra 3m range. Works for bow attacks)
Mnemonic (+3memory)
All skilled up (+1 combat rank and +1 civil)
Bigger and better (+2 attribute points)

Really cool build man thanks for sharing. I thought far out man only worked for scrolls and magic.

Imo the concept of Ranger is pure damage dealer. That means spending points in other than ranged/huntsman/warfare/scoundrel (in that sequence) is damage loss.

FYI all of Huntsman abilities scale from Finesse.

Huntsman only gives bonus damage if you have height advantage. In some places it literally gives you no benefit spare the skyshot.

Finesse gives 5% damage to Huntsman skills and Ranged weapons (since they scale from finesse)
Warfare give 5% physical damage. If you have extra elemental damage on your bow it is not affected.
Scoundrell gives extra crit damage and movespeed. Not a bad choise.

So I personally think if you want to be mainly a Ranger then:
1. Finesse
2. Ranged weaponry
3. Another skill set (Scoundrell/warfare whatever you prefer)
4. Memory
5. Huntsman
6. Vitality

But that's only my opinion. You are free to disagree and do it your way. In fact I actually encourage you to do so.

So itortured the mirror.
-- Stats @ lvl 20
1 Max to 40 finesse
2 All remaining in wits (well, actually I needed some points in memory).

-- Skills by priority
1. 10 ranged
2. Maximum 5 in Huntsman to maintain skills. including gear it's 3 +2 from gear. not more then 5.
3. Two points in metamorp. METAMORP from items does not give free stats, so it's better to take it from lvl up.
4. Scoundrel for adrenaline and cloak and shadow - from gear.
5. Pyro you get from gems in amulet.
6. Warfare.

So tldr: Huntsman minimum for skills you need - maximize ranger - metamorp/warfare.

--Gear
Well the most priority is amulet with good amount of sockets. Each mystical giant flame rune gives 12 crit and 1 Pyro. 3 runes = 36!!! Crit and e Pyro. Even if stats such it's 24 percent crit more then ordinary amulets.
Other gear situational, priority same as above:
Finesse, ranged, warfare, wits, Huntsman, scoundrel. Huntsman higher then 5 reroll at mirror.

Must-have talents:
Glass cannon, hothead, elemental ranger, executioner.
Far-out man and guerilla are good too (assassination from invis is insane).
Arrow recovery is crappie due to the easy arrow craft/buy.

So we got 5 escapes: Tactical retreat, cloak and dagger, Phoenix dive, wings and chameleon cloak for positioning and tons of damage.

My character has 90-100 crit chance under peace of mind buff) and it's without lone wolf.

I had a build that worked wonders for me. Lone wolf though.

3 Huntsman - just for abilities - Get from items - Tactical retreat - Rest to your liking.
1 Aero - Erratic wisp - Get from an item
10 Warfare - Physical damage / Phoenix dive
10 Scoundrel - Adrel / Cloak and dagger - Crit multiplier
10 Ranged - +Damage and crit
10 Geo - Venom coating - this alone hits for 400 damage for a 1 action point buff and lasts for 2 turns. Eats through magic armour, so you will get the full damage added to your auto hits in 2 shots or so. Some bows /crossbows carry a poison enchant too which also benfits from points in geo.

Rest in Pyro - Firebrand - Also stacks with Venom coating. Also hits around 400 mark with 10 points or so. A lot of gear with some pyro/geo/warfare - grab that.
Couple points necro - Boneshield is amazing with lonewolf.
1 Hydro - Armour of frost / a bit of heals - Get from Item.

Socket Crit rune in amulet with a couple sockets, physical damage rune in your bow.

Talent wise - Hothead / Lone wolf / Executioner / Picture of Health - Anything else what you want.

I don't like Wings on the ranger, plenty of mobility with the 3 skills above + Erratic wisp if really in trouble.
