We tried the same with applying direct healing skills (first aid, healing ritual, regenerates initial cast) but they became the dead essence and respawned.
perhaps this is something to do with being revenants - a type of undead traditionally motivated by revenge, if you kill them they want revenge so continue to respawn but if they die to puddle on the floor revenge can't really be satisfied against an inanimate object?
I agree though this fight is pretty stupid.
If someone can confirm if this method works for them that'd be great.
I turned on the gift bag mod that lets you recover source on resting too. I could have set up a pyramid next to a source fountain, but this just cuts out the tediousness.
Agreed. Puzzle is kinda silly. I guess I missed a hint somewhere in dialog? No clues in journal. Took 4 times dropping them before I noticed they always went to necrofire while a puddle and when they revived, they consumed some of it.
idk what it is about the divinity forums and source necromancers forcefully raising old rotting threads from the depths to answer questions that have long since been forgotton on top of already being answered. hell it has already happened in this very thread several times. this thread is from 2017 there are potentially children who were born and are now in first grade since this post was made
Those children deserve to learn how the game is played from their parents, not their grandparents, who likely learned what are by now outdated strategems.
