How to position characters before battle?
Im at the start of the game and found some Saltwater Crocodiles, they open up with AoE attacks, so i would like to know how to split the party so that only one character takes the hits

you cna move them individually by seperating their picture frames on to the left, or hit escape and change your party formation.

all rangers and casters go on highground. all melee guys go to choke points like stairs\ladders\corridors

Definately go for the party split to avoid AOE. Just click and hold on a character portrait, then drag to the right and it will become unchained. Generally I always unlink all my party in preparation for combat.

Also..dont be afraid to move barrels/boxes to choke point locations if they'll help your attack plan. Good Luck!

Also keep in mind that monsters have to follow the same rules as players do.

I think fossil strike is a 3 round cooldown so even though it may not initially seem worth it, getting on the wooden platform will help you survive the fight after the first ranged attacks are out.

Try to use sneaking to get your mage/range dps on high ground before engaging. Or you can also engage without them and then make your range characters engage in the fight later so that ennemies already used their spells on your melee. Highground positionning is very important for many boss fights

Another tip for anyone finding this thread late is to go a bit further south and you can pick up Beast as your party member, which helps with this fight a lot if you're trying to do it at level 2 like I did.
