How do I know what skills are affected by stats?
I have a polymorph (origin character). I have her to level 2 but am confused if I should dump points into things like Intellegence etc?
For instance the lashing tentacle skill (I forget the exact name) when I scroll over it it doesnt give me any idea if the skill is based off of intelligence or any other stat???

I know when attacking with the pitchfork it says finesse affects it so that part is fine.
But what about the other skills??
Please help I dont wanna pump points into something useless :steamsad:

If a skill has no stat info, it is probably tied to the wielded weapon (or your level), which in turn is affected by a stat. So Tentacle would work off whatever weapon you wield or level you are. In neither case do you have to bother about Tentacle itself. Just put your points where you know what they do.

Btw, you can later respec everything (after act 1).

But it does? Tentacle Lash says it scales with Strength.

Warfare skills will scale off the same stat as your melee weapon.

Most Huntsman skills need a bow, so therefore will scale off Finesse.

Most Scoundrel skills need a dagger, and so will also scale with Finesse.

All 4 Elemental schools and Necromancer scale with Intelligence.

Summoning only has 2 damaging skills that scale with Intelligence, with the rest of their skills being buffs for them or their summons, and any summons they summon getting stronger the more you invest into the Summoner skill.

Only two Polymorph skills scale with Strength that I know of, with the rest being buffs.

If you hover over pyrokinetic it will say what the next level will give you. With polymorph it does not say anything damage related it just says that it will give you an extra attribute point. Just increase your polymorph and put that point into intelligence, strength or anything really.

I see it in the skill box that appears when I hover over the skill in my hotbar, in blue text. Maybe your game is bugged somehow?

None of the skills are affected directly by stats at all.

Indirectly, weapon skills will get better; ie. Whirlwind with a Str weapon will not increase it's damage with points into Str directly, but it will increase the damage of the weapon used for the skill, and so indirectly adds damage to Whirlwind.

Skills like Restoration do not get any benefit from Intelligence at all; only from Hydrosophist points. Same with Fortify being buffed by Geomancer, and so on.

It shows in the tooltip if you hover over it in your hotbar.

It should say it in the bottom of the tooltip.. "These skills are improved by high Intelligence" or something like that.
