Theivery level too low?

How many points must I spend in it? I'm a rogue with one level in theivery. It was all I could get. How am I to unlock doors in the introduction?

If you don't have lock picks, forget it...;) The player you want to pick the locks must have them in his inventory. Level one suffices to unlock most doors and chests in the initial Fort Joy area, lvl two unlocks all those except the ones that require a key.

You can craft lockpicks from nails with a claw hammer (= 4 picks). Otherwise you can bash them in.

Unless you're an undead thief you wont be able to pick the locks on the starter ship due to lack of lockpicks. There is a key hidden nearby though.

The most points you can put into it is 5 (can get higher with items) But a single point is good enough for most of Fort Joy once you get lockpicks.
