Locked door past Magister Sang

I read that you can't cure him and so I put him out of his misery. However now I'm wondering how in the hell to open the door just past him. The lever is cursed and won't budge and the lock cannot be picked nor attacked. Do I need to un-curse the lever? If so, how?

you can get it by clicking on one of the statues. I know one of them is right next to the dog looking void beast with all the undead and the flaming pigs. you will have to fight through all those undead and the massive void beast to get to it though I havent ever tried sneaking.
