should i keep gear like braccus rex's spear? will i ever need it again to complete a quest?

Anything that you need for a quest seems to be unsellable. At least, with certain items I've tried to sell that were for quests, it's been that way for me. I couldn't sell them, and if they were an equipable item like the Band of Braccus that a party member was using, they returned to my main character after I dismissed that party member.

If it's a quest related item, you'll usually get a notification. I don't think that spear is anything other than a decent weapon for it's level. His armor is more useful, but also not required for much.
