What are some other vendor trash things? Will I ever need a pickaxe or mallet or tongs for example?

tongs for repair, shovel for digging, bedroll for healing, repair hammer and nails for lockpicks, besides a few ingrediants or so the rest is vendor trash. Theres no good craftable gears :(

Combine boots with nails and you have metal spiked cleats so you cant slip and fall on ice.

Gems are not used in any recipes.

They're useless vendor fodder.

On any item, right click it. If the "combine with" option is present, it's used in at least one crafting recipe.

D:OS 2 had a crafting system.

Then it went away.

Hahaha! You said it! What happened? I think I recall different/better crafting in Alpha.

So just to confirm, rubies and crystals are vendor trash and are not used in any crafting components? I've been saving all of mine thinking it may be the later, but haven't found any recipes needing them yet..

Right-click on the item (or whatever you have configured to bring up the "other actions" contextual menu). If you see "Combine With" as one of the available options, that means the item has SOME potential use in Crafting somewhere, at some time. Might have to do some sleuthing to figure out exactly what, though.
