3rd ritual in act 2, void devourers take 50 years to kill ? 99% phys resist, missing something?
I barely have elemental damage on this char

currently in the fight myself as a pure magic damage mage, can't scratch the the guy with 100% magic resist. Any solution you found to the problem would be helpful! ^-^

This is one of the BS moments in this game.

With my melee dualwielder i had to use most of my scrolls and bombs to kill the Void Devourers (The one with 99% Phys resist), if you don't have anything to deal magic damage, then you're probably gonna have to hit that monster for more than 30 min.

I finally did it took me about 15 minutes or so with my build.... that has to be a bug or something.

Try to put a source orb into your weapon, use venemous aura, kill the mofo.

As a full magic damage mage my way of finally beating the one with 100% magic resistance was to just equip everything I had that gave points to Retribution and to win by having him take damage every time he killed me... 30 minutes and god knows how many deaths later i finally "won". It felt like I was acting out the end fight of the Doctor Strange movie

You can poison your weapons by putting them + an ooze barrel into the crafting menu, although this is permanent.

^ Exactly the issue. The balance of your team becomes irrelevant when it's just one isolated and specialized character

For my mage I used the cat familiar and a tentacle. I only had a couple of points in these but it was worth it.

tl;dr at the bottom of how I got through this as a pure-fire mage.

I'm a few days late but I got to this part too and was really annoyed by it at first. I play Fane as a strictly Pyro wizard and the Devourers were kicking my butt. For those of you reading this later on to hopefully figure out what to do:

- Devourer is immune to Physical Damage, the other (Flayer) immune to Magic damage.
- They also count as Undead - so you can use healing abilities to kill them.
- Note that the below method is what I used on Classic and might not work on something more difficult. I get revived instantly every time I die in this fight, I can't guarantee it works in Honor mode.
- Physical armor helps to have for this method. Fortify if you can.

Anyway, assuming you killed the other void mob (Devourer, physical immunity):

  1. If you don't have any healing abilities on you, look through your bags for useful scrolls, or craft a scroll from what you've got in your bags. I happened to have Shackles of Pain on me.
  2. Let Amadia take out the Flayers's Physical armor first. End your turn if it's still got some left, otherwise it'll just get blocked.
  3. Find the biggest potions you've got and combine them to get a Huge one.
  4. Drink it, and it should nail the Void Flayer for most of his health. Hopefully you survive (as it should do most damage to your Physical Armor), because you may have to do it twice.

tl;dr - Enemies are undead, so heal them. If you don't have any, Shackles of Pain on the enemy once Phys armor is gone, drink a potion and drink your strongest potion to drop it quick so Shackle doesn't wear off.

lol so much for 'pure single type damage is way to go combat is broken' threads.

lol One of those rare moment the game punishes you for being pure anything.
One the bright side, you revive forever.

Nice advise. I just brute forced my way through this fight with melee, summons and lizard fire breath
