Example; After you've let the Red Prince speak to the dreamer(make sure Sebille isn't in your group) then recruit Sebille and have her speak to him. Once you understand the dreamers background the idea of turning him in shouldn't bother you as much. If you're like me anyways.
Turn him in to Griff.. then go back to Stingtail and join in the fight! Stingtail even rewards you! Griff seems non the wiser..
You can sweet talk one of Griff's companions to fight on your side!
You can also make one of the mob people your GF who will aid you in the battle with them. You'll want to kill them anyway, they drop some pretty nice starting weapons for most builds.
You'll learn that in Driftwood from a dwarf who is her girlfriend.
Her voice makes me melt. XD
Steal from most the Griff clan when needed but try to hold off for better skillbooks.
After I no longer need their mercantile services (around LV 6-7) I pretty much end it for all and get the remaining loot. Not a great RP method, and not what I did the first time, but it works. :)
P.S. If you unchain your party and deal with the perimeter, the figth isn't too bad. The middle, where Griff is is easy, with barrells etc.
Edit: Sorry for the typos -- occular migraine, bah.
