Do you have to fight Griff
If you don't want to turn in the Lizard guy which is a♥♥♥♥♥♥move frankly seems like the only way to proceed withthe story is to fight him. Very tough battle with all these ranged characters all over the area.

You either, don't turn in the drudanae or you turn him in, or you fight Griff.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

You don't have to fight him. There are a few different ways to approach this quest.

Example; After you've let the Red Prince speak to the dreamer(make sure Sebille isn't in your group) then recruit Sebille and have her speak to him. Once you understand the dreamers background the idea of turning him in shouldn't bother you as much. If you're like me anyways.

I actually found and alternate path that is much better. Frees the prisoner..no fight with griff. And Stingtail does not die.

You can turn in Sting tail AND save him.

Turn him in to Griff.. then go back to Stingtail and join in the fight! Stingtail even rewards you! Griff seems non the wiser..

Also..

You can sweet talk one of Griff's companions to fight on your side!

I just pick pocket the key, release the elf while stealthed and quickly get the reward. Leave the Elf to die. Get all i need from Stingtail, turn him in. Double time it back to stingtail, kill silience. Get Stingtails reward. Then everyone's a winner, apart from the elf. But you still get his reward. Then go to the cave, deal with frogs, hand that in to the elf. Collect reward from elf you saved with Ifan. Then murder all the elves for extra experience. Usually what happens on my playthough :P

You can also make one of the mob people your GF who will aid you in the battle with them. You'll want to kill them anyway, they drop some pretty nice starting weapons for most builds.

Butter does really want to rob you.
You'll learn that in Driftwood from a dwarf who is her girlfriend.

Kill that bastard and all his friends! Heal the guy by the dwarf get the sparkler card, go to the top of the fort and use it in the game they make you play. Then kill them all. Go to druggy lizard Stingtail and convince him to give you the "weed" lol. Place this on hold right now. Get some levels, kill crocks and turtles and the like. Make sure you get one guy up in thieving. You will also find some gloves I believe with +1 thieving at some point. Once you get your thieving up and then get these gloves some back and rob Stingtail blind will all your characters switching out the gloves to each group member. Then go find Butter do the same to her, using your group members to initiate convo's to turn NPCs vision away from that area so you can steal. There is another girl that stands by Griff, wait till she walks up the steps and again rob her will all your characters again; use one to talk to her and stop her then rob her wit the others. Now that you have lots of new skill books and some new equipment go talk to Griff tell him to F-off and you are not feeding his habit. (you know cause you care) then when he attacks you wipe them out! Tons of EXP and loot. If you really don't like druggy Lizards go back and kill Stingtail bahahaha! By the time I leave the fort all everyone is dead but us "good" source people :)

I pickpocket and kill Stingtail early. Befriend the Griff peoples so they don't get mad if I get into a nearbly fight.

Steal from most the Griff clan when needed but try to hold off for better skillbooks.

After I no longer need their mercantile services (around LV 6-7) I pretty much end it for all and get the remaining loot. Not a great RP method, and not what I did the first time, but it works. :)

P.S. If you unchain your party and deal with the perimeter, the figth isn't too bad. The middle, where Griff is is easy, with barrells etc.

Edit: Sorry for the typos -- occular migraine, bah.

Eh, I personally never had a problem turning the lizard in personally (after all, he had no problem with Giff killing an innocent for his crime), and the only reason to save him is so Seblie has the honor of killing him.

I don't know what's complicated about this part. You can let Sebille kill stingtail, take the orange, give it to griff, he lets the elf go no fight happens. You can fight them if you want for exp, but I'll agree with the above its not very good rp and also not very smart fighting them early game
