Presets are just here to give you ideas, don't follow them too much.

Pure anything is quite limited so I'd say in terms of presets shadowblade is superior as it gives many useful tools that pure Rogue wouldn't have. But overall pure anything is a bit lacking and you can very easily boost a build by picking skills from other schools super easily.
