You can eat it with Sebille/Elf, but I'm holding mine in case it's used for something else.

The real question about Phoenix Egg, is why some gear shows that text in the description area (maybe tied to crafting?). For example, the several armor items you can steal by a merchant in the camp where Gareth goes; all of them say "Phoenix Egg" in the description (nothing else), and I just found another piece in A2 that has the same.

I was under the impression that the whole Phoenix egg description is basically saying "Easter egg" since most of the items i've found it attached to tend to be well hidden secrets or strangely named items.

Yeah I assumed the text on armor was a bug. I can't remember what it was exactly now, but some item in a vendor had the icon and description of slime (Something like yech! why would you put it in your backpack?), but the item was named something different.

the only thing I found related to the egg, is a skeleton head in the basement of that guy in the mansion of the graveyard. it simply says in the description: "phoenix egg". and that's all I found related to it so far.

I was hopping it will hatch into a baby dragon eventually, but nope. :(
