Is there any reason to not break open locked chests?
I encountered a particular chest in a particular graveyard that can't be lock picked. It had a story narrative, but I simply bashed it open, took the goods and left. Did I miss out on anything?

Chance to lose items inside. Also the weapons used to attack those things gets damaged

Damages/destroys items inside, though let me say that it's nice to have a game where you can actually break ♥♥♥♥ if you don't feel like being a rogue.

And in this particular case you missed the experience and a bit of lore from the lizard in Rykers house.

Like...using an crate that you filled with EVERYTHING you find to create an object with insane mass to oneshoot the final boss with by dropping it on him good time or "open it later" good time?
(if you don´t know what i´m talking about look up speedruns of the first game.will only take 20-30 minutes of your time)

From what I've seen on chests that have a guaranteed drop, I always get that item, and some others. Other than damaging your weapon (which with the amount of repair hammers you find in this game doesn't mean much), if you have a character with Lucky charm, you'll simply miss out on the potential of more, and sometimes better, loot.

You lost an XP boost.

If you speak to the lizard in Ryker's house while being a lizard, you'll get some back-story & some XP.

You missed the XP for doing the quest that is attached to that chest. Could be the difference in reaching max level or not.

This, in particular. With 7-8 Lucky Charm you end up absolutely swimming in purple-tier items.

Or even higher tier items later in the game.
