You should view them as different games with same core idea having been used as the foundation.
note: you could play DOS2 first and then when winter comes buy the 1st one at discount as usually during winter older releases get major discounts while new games only get 10-25% discount at most if lucky. If you still have the energy for a 2nd cRPG when the time comes :)
You actually put into words what I could not. Burnout, also not to mention wanting to play other games that will be released this year as well.
It still has the great gameplay but the story isn't very good and is not at all important to this one, and if you play all of the first you might be a bit burned out to then move on to this one which is a much better game overall.
Start with DOS1, DOS2 still have some bugs and getting patches.
finish maby dosII has been patched.
Obviously haven't been able to experience what's wrong with the game currently but are we talking game breaking bugs? Or just balance issues and tweaks?
This ain't bad advice thank you.
I'm an huge fan of Divinity in General, i also loved the first Game, but i can't put it in Words how much better Divinity Original Sin 2 - in every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ aspect. Once you played Divinity 2 the first Game feels nothing more like an Prototype for the actual Game which Divinity Original Sin 2 offers. So don't get me wrong, i still find DOS1 amazing and i can everyone advice who is interested in it, give it a try. But if you have to decide between DOS1 and DOS2 - go for DOS2. Catch up later DOS1 in an sale(like someone mentioned) if you have enough played DOS2 - and you still want more...
