I use it all the time, lol, even without high fire resists. But ideally you'd be pretty resistant to fire to get the most out of it and elemental affinity. Take the demon talent and stack up some resists.

Get over 100% fire resistance and it turns into a heal. A pretty decent one too, that hits everything else like a truck

Does supernova supposed to have a tiny range around the caster, or is my game glitched or am I doing something wrong? The description says "large area", but it's barely 1m radius....

yea teh radius is surprisingly tiny.

It's larger than 1m, but it's definitely not a "large" radius. I think it's got a smaller radius so you don't accidentally burn your allies to death.

It also sets the ground on fire so it's a nice combat starter to benefit from elemental affinity. Flaming skin gives you immunity to fire. Assuming regular play you could go 1: Flaming Skin -> Supernova | 2: Laser Ray, Fire Whip.

yes, as previously said I love to use supernova with 100%+ fire resist and elemental affinity, it's a great heal.
eta: I'm using a spark striker build with swords that i can also use skills as lont as i'm positioned near an enemy for opportunist to hit during the enemie's turn, but i like to open with haste+spark striker+phoenix dive near enemies+flesh sacrifice+move into fire+supernova

Flaming Skin costs a Source Point, which at least to me, seems a little much to use in as part of an "every fight" combo. Maybe hit yourself with "Armor of Frost" first instead.

I disagree that it makes a good opener. I much prefer to open with an oil slick, then ignition (a 1-cost pyro spell), then tactical retreat into the fire, adrenaline, and follow up with my expensive pyro spells since Elemental Affinity reduces those by 1. Supernova, with enough resist, is a good hit late fight when you need a heal and have collected enough enemies around you to make the AOE worthwhile.

Mind you, I play a warfare pyro with high CON and taunt, so round 2 or 3 sees me pretty much surrounded with whatever survived the first salvo.
