How important is Wits(Initiative)
I've been ignoring it mostly (I know what it does, high initiative makes it so you potentially go first, then the enemy, which is viable if you wanna buff before a fight)

However, how importnat is it? For you anyway, or what is your idea on how it should be leveled? do you like having high wits? Do you think it's dumb to ignore the stat? Do you level it or do you go by items? I fought a enemy with 51 initiative and he cast like.. 5 spells before i got to do anything..

wit also gives you more action points so it's quite important...

no it dosn't, you can only increase action points through the talent 'glass cannon', abilities and possibly items (though not found any). it DOES, however, give you initiative which lets you go first, gives you crit, and lets you spot hidden things.
If you are going for a crit build invest in it, if you don't care so much ignore it entirely

I like being able to spot all the hidden things, easily, and it helps in a lot of dialogue.

It's very important for finesse characters in my opinion. I personally love having high wits. It raises your initiative, which allows you to go first, and with high wits you're able to spot buried treasure, secret passages, traps, etc.

Oddly enough with how wits work a thief (I assume you mean dagger bassed sneaky character) gets the LEST out of wits, using daggers means you will always crit (assuming you are backstabbing)

I think Wits is best on a 2hander / Knight type character to make the most benefit of 2hander's crit damage bonus.

or an archer. IMO I am not sure why you would go a duel daggers vs an archer as archer is so much stronger

I find it good on crit dependant characters, like a rogue, pluss it's nice to have at least one person with high withs in the party, for all the treasures. That said, haven't found that many uses in conversations. Sure, withs checks are most common, but it mostly allows you to avoid fights, so meh.

I have all of my people with high/respectable wits. Its that important to me.

its super important. me and my gf play dual lone wolf and whoever gets to move first gets to kill the important looking guys. we literally skill way too much wits just so we get to go first...

more wits more crits.

its probably best on archers, especially with the hothead talent, but its also good on 2H warriors and glass cannon mages (earlier CC / synergy with the spell crit talent).

Its extremely good on rogues as well because if you sneak into combat, youll get your opening attack, then you'll be put last on initiative for the first round and close to the front on the next round. So basicallt your first turn turns into 10 ap worth of attacks on a target.

And if you have adrenaline rush that turns it into 12 ap, which should be enough to severely injure, if not outright kill, a lo of the backlines in the game.

Rogue is like the least crit dependent character in the entire game, though...

It's the only one with access to auto crits.
