It's worth it if you have a bit of crit chance as a magic user, will definitely boost your damage by a lot.

It gives your spells the same chance to crit as your weapon attacks. Its going to only be worth it on someone with a decent critical chance. So you'll want to invest in wits and anything else that improves your crit chance.

If you're a STR based warfare hybrid you might not have a high crit number. So probably wouldnt be worth it in that instance.

20% crit chance is quite nice already.

Pyromancer crit is something that I was considering doing. You can put +critical chance runes in your amulet (with either +fire or +int from power/mystic rune frames), and combined with two wands that give critical chance, you should be able to get up to at least 50% without putting anything into Wits...

Yup thats a good number. As long as you have over 10% you'll get some value out of the talent I think.

Keep in mind that once you reach Act 2, you can respec your characters fully, and without limits, so go ahead and experiment.

I play with savage sorc aswell, i have some wits ( around 14+1 if i remember well , im still at the beginning) and i got a sweet wand (+10% crit) so i'm ATM at 20% crit chances (+5 from human) and it's well freaking worth i tell you ! Since you want crit on spells, i higtly recommand you to not give a ♥♥♥♥ about damages on your wands (you wont ever attack with it anyway), just take 2 with the maximum crits possible .

edit: Yes go wands, more stats than a staff. Don't spend anything in Dual wielding tho !

Yea it's useful and adds up quick. If you are human, get 2 wands with crit chance (+10 and a +5 is reasonable around 15 lvlish), find an amulet and put a flame rune in it (+3,+6,+9 etc depending on size) and you are already at 30% ish without any investment in Wits. Then grab the hothead talent as well for another 10% and laugh as enemies turn to cinders.

With spells like restoration though, that will only crit when you use it as a DD vs undead right? I haven't seen a single heal crit since I got Savage Sortilege on my support mage.
